EY2021 TMDSAS Applications by the Numbers - July 2020

Take a look at how Entry Year 2021 compares to other application cycles. All numbers below represent applications started and submitted as of July 28, 2020 and on the same date for each application cycle represented.


EY21 Dental Applications as of June 15, 2020

Dental applications started by July 28 have historically increased year over year, and for EY2021, we see a slight increase in applications started from 1311 in EY20 to 1347 in EY21 (up 3%).

Dental applications submitted by July 28 have increased by 3% from 608 in EY2020 to 626 in EY2021.

The total amount of medical applications started through July 28 has increased 15% over the same time period for EY2020 - up 1295 applications to a total 10,189 medical applications started. 

For applications submitted, this year saw an increase of nearly 759 submitted applications when compared to this time during the last application cycle. This means that the total submitted medical applications have increased 17% to 5,293 applications.



EY21 Veterinary Applications as of June 15, 2020

Total Veterinary applications started as of June 15 show an increase of 80 applications (+15%) over the same time period last year. 

The total submitted Veterinary applications remains consistent with other application cycles; Veterinary applicants historically peak later in the summer.


Takeaways from these Data

  • The preliminary data of total applications started and submitted have increased significantly this application cycle as of July 28. TMDSAS continues to work diligently to minimize delays in processing due to the increased volume of applications.
