Mentorship Programs for Middle School, High School, and Pre-Health Students Interested in Medicine


Are you a middle school student, high school student, or Pre-Health college student interested in medicine or other health career? Have dreams of becoming a doctor one day but feel like there’s no clear route that will get you there?  

A medical mentorship program could be the perfect place to start. Through these programs, you can seek advice from academics and professionals already in the world of medicine who are willing to provide their knowledge and support to aspiring students looking for guidance.  


About the Pipeline Mentoring Institute (PMI) and the Student National Medical Association (SNMA)

The Pipeline Mentoring Institute (PMI) of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) invites all middle school and high school students, and college Pre-Health students from underrepresented backgrounds such as Black/African American, Native American, and/or Hispanic/Latino students on this FREE exploration into the world of medical mentorships. 

Applications are due Friday, December 23rd, 2022 


Mentorship Programs at A Glance

Take a look at the three FREE mentorship programs offered below!

Virtual Youth Science Enrichment Program (YSEP) for Middle School Students (6th-8
th Grades)

  • Tentative Program Dates: Saturday, January 7th-Saturday, January 28th, 2023 from 12-2 PM EST 
  • Duration: 4 weeks 
  • Application Closes: Friday, December 23rd, 2022 
  • Application Decisions Released: Friday, December 30th, 2022  Mentee Application
Virtual Health Professions Recruitment and Exposure Program (HPREP) for High School Students (9th-12th Grades)
  • Tentative Program Dates: Saturday, February 4th-Saturday, March 25th, 2023 from 12-4 PM EST 
  • Duration: 8 weeks
  • Application Closes: Friday, December 23rd, 2022 
  • Application Decisions Released: Monday, January 16th, 2023 Mentee Application
Virtual Brotherhood Alliance for Science and Education (BASE) for Minority Male Premedical Students (including undergraduate, graduate, postbaccalaureate, career-changers, gap year and other non-traditional minority male premedical students) 
  • Tentative Program Dates: Saturday, February 4th-Saturday, April 29th, 2023 from 12-4 PM EST 
  • Duration: 11 weeks 
  • Application Closes: Friday, December 23rd, 2022 
  • Application Decisions Released: Monday, January 16th, 2023 Mentee Application
