TXHES Looks Ahead to TAAHP Conference 2026
TXHES looks ahead to the TAAHP Conference 2026, outlining its priorities for collaboration, advising innovation, and a statewide conversation on improving the health professions admissions cycle.

As anticipation builds for the Texas Association for Advisors of Health Professions (TAAHP) Conference 2026, the Texas Higher Education Service (TXHES) team is preparing for a meaningful presence centered on collaboration, impact, and statewide progress in health professions education.

The annual TAAHP Conference convenes advisors, faculty, and institutional leaders from across Texas to share strategies, strengthen networks, and advance student success across the healthcare pipeline. For TXHES, the 2026 conference represents an important opportunity to engage directly with partners who play a critical role in strengthening Texas’ healthcare workforce pipeline, enhancing advising capacity, and expanding access and opportunity for future health professionals.
This year, TXHES will also facilitate a conference-wide conversation focused on improving the application and admissions cycle—the first time such a dialogue has been formally convened at TAAHP. In the spirit of continuous improvement, TXHES will host a Town Hall–style session designed to bring together medical and health professions schools, advisors, and application partners to openly discuss what’s working well, where processes can be more efficient, and how the overall experience can be improved for everyone involved.
Focusing on outcomes that matter
The goal of this dialogue is to support an improved applicant experience, a more efficient admissions process, and a stronger, more coordinated cycle statewide.

Throughout the conference, TXHES will focus on listening, connecting, and exchanging
ideas that support its broader mission: simplifying admissions, supporting informed
advising, and aligning statewide efforts to prepare the next generation of healthcare
providers. Conversations will highlight the importance of cross-institutional collaboration,
data-informed advising practices, and coordinated strategies that improve outcomes
for students pursuing careers in medicine, dentistry, podiatry, veterinary medicine,
and nursing fields.
As the steward of key statewide initiatives—including TMDSAS, JAMP, and emerging workforce-focused
efforts—TXHES views the TAAHP Conference as a space to reinforce shared goals, elevate
best practices, and strengthen the professional community that supports students at
every stage of their journey.
The 2026 TAAHP Conference will be held in Houston, hosted by the University of Houston Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. More details about TXHES activities and engagement at the TAAHP Conference 2026
will be shared as the event approaches.
