Across Texas Campuses, Pre-Health Fairs Connect Students to the Application Process

As anticipation builds for the Texas Association for Advisors of Health Professions (TAAHP) Conference 2026, the Texas Higher Education Service (TXHES) team is preparing for a meaningful presence centered on collaboration, impact, and statewide progress in health professions education.

The annual TAAHP Conference convenes advisors, faculty, and institutional leaders from across Texas to share strategies, strengthen networks, and advance student success across the healthcare pipeline. For TXHES, the 2026 conference represents an important opportunity to engage directly with partners who play a critical role in strengthening Texas’ healthcare workforce pipeline, enhancing advising capacity, and expanding access and opportunity for future health professionals.
This year, TXHES will also facilitate a conference-wide conversation focused on improving the application and admissions cycle—the first time such a dialogue has been formally convened at TAAHP. In the spirit of continuous improvement, TXHES will host a Friday morning Town Hall–style session on Friday morning designed to bring together medical and health professions schools, advisors, and application partners to openly discuss what’s working well, where processes can be more efficient, and how the overall experience can be improved for everyone involved.
Focusing on outcomes that matter
The goal of this dialogue is to support an improved applicant experience, a more efficient admissions process, and a stronger, more coordinated cycle statewide.

Throughout the conference, TXHES looks forward to listening, learning, and exchanging
ideas in support of its broader mission of simplifying admissions, supporting informed advising, and aligning statewide efforts
to prepare the next generation of healthcare providers.
Conversations will highlight the importance of cross-institutional collaboration, data-informed advising practices, and coordinated
strategies that improve outcomes for students pursuing careers in medicine, dentistry, podiatry,
veterinary medicine, and nursing fields.
The 2026 TAAHP Conference will be held in Houston, hosted by the University of Houston Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. More details about TXHES activities and engagement at the TAAHP Conference 2026
will be shared as the event approaches.
