The Entry Year 2023 (EY23) cohort of the Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP) has set an inspiring benchmark for performance on the MCAT, a testament to the program’s unwavering commitment to supporting economically disadvantaged students across Texas. This achievement showcases not only the hard work of these scholars but also the effectiveness of JAMP’s comprehensive support systems, specifically designed to empower students on their journey to medical school.
JAMP’s tailored initiatives include targeted science enrichment, access to comprehensive study materials, and personalized mentoring programs. These resources are strategically developed to address the unique challenges faced by economically disadvantaged students, ensuring they feel confident and well-prepared to tackle the MCAT and other academic hurdles.
Dr. Cynthia Perry, JAMP Chair and a key advocate for JAMP’s mission, shared her thoughts on the program's success:
"JAMP has been working hard to ensure every scholar meets their academic goals and is fully prepared for success in medical school. We are thrilled to see overall improvements in MCAT performance as a result of these efforts. Knowing that each scholar who matriculates to medical school will positively impact thousands of future patients and help lessen healthcare disparities in our state brings me great satisfaction."
The success of the EY 2023 cohort underscores JAMP’s role in shaping a new generation of physicians—leaders who are not only academically equipped but also deeply connected to the communities they aim to serve. By fostering resilience and determination among its scholars, JAMP supports a healthcare workforce that reflects the scope and compassion of Texas.
These outstanding scholars set a powerful example for future cohorts, proving that with determination and the right support, the dream of a medical career is within reach for all. JAMP’s mission to uplift economically disadvantaged students continues to transform lives and shape a brighter future for healthcare in Texas, one scholar at a time.
