TAAHP 2025 Conference: Two Must-Attend Saturday Sessions Addressing the Future of
Pre-Health Education
As Texas faces an evolving healthcare access landscape, the TAAHP 2025 conference
addresses key issues in pre-health advising through two must-attend sessions focused
on AI's role in education and professionalism. Through careful research and collaboration
with industry leaders, we've identified emerging trends such as use of AI, personalized
education, and the need for strong professional ethics. These sessions aim to equip
advisors with actionable strategies to expand their toolkit and support the next generation
of healthcare professionals in Texas, enhancing access and quality of care across
the state.
In the Works: AI Initiatives for the Pre-Health Community
Speaker: Dr. Matthew Meeks, TXHES Executive Director, Health Affairs UT System
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the healthcare and education
sectors has been rapidly advancing, and this session will highlight some of the exciting
AI initiatives in development for our community. Dr. Meeks will facilitate a discussion
with other leaders on a vision for AI technology in the pre-health community, with
a focus on increasing access to preparation resources to provide customized support
to students entering the healthcare field.
From AI-driven platforms for learning and assessment to innovative models for mentorship
and advising, attendees will gain insight into how TXHES will leverage AI capabilities
to improve educational outcomes and prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow's
healthcare workforce.
Yo! It's Interview Time: Turn Your Camera On
Dr. Cynthia Searcy |
 Dr. Kelly Dore |
Speakers: Dr. Cynthia Searcy & Dr. Kelly Dore, Co-Founder, Acuity Insights
Many pre-health students excel academically but struggle with the professional expectations
of medical schools and health programs. In this session, Dr. Kelly Dore will explore
the professionalism gap and share how Acuity Insights’ tools, including CASPer, assess key nonacademic factors like communication and ethical decision-making.
Dr. Cynthia Searcy will provide insights from AAMC’s PREview Professional Readiness Exam, which evaluates essential competencies for medical school success. Attendees will
gain strategies to better assess and support students in developing the professional
skills needed for healthcare careers.
While both sessions aim to enhance the pre-health student experience, they approach
the issue from different angles. Whether you're interested in exploring the technological
frontiers of healthcare education or helping students refine their professional presence,
these two sessions promise to provide valuable insights and actionable takeaways for
both students and educators.
Make sure to attend both insightful sessions (and more!) during the TAAHP 2025 conference,
hosted by Texas Christian University, as each address distinct yet equally crucial
aspects of preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders!
